Gamers have plenty of options when it comes to choosing a massively multiplayer online role-playing game to play, so in order for a new contender to be successful, it needs to try something different.
Heres's a lil info bout Cabal OnlineThere are 3 main worlds when you first start the game, "Bloody Ice, Green despair and Desert Scream" Nice names eh? first thing that came into my mind was something is bad about the worlds, so this is a great way to tell how the story is linked etc.
Bloody Ice is a great world, its filled with pure white snow and ice its graphically great
Desert Scream is very "Egyption" like, sands, ruins and ancient pillers and buildings
Green despair is like a jungle, nothing but trees, lakes and bugs, this has to be the best world, as graphically, its beautiful.
The character graphics are great too, especially the attack animations, Just think of doing a single attack which slashes 10 times within 4 seconds, which glorious lights shining out of the swords, dreamy, isnt it?
The monster graphics are good, you can see right down to the smallest detail, the animations of them are great and really suits the type of monster.
The sky is really realistic too, when you see the clouds move and when it darkens when nightfall hits cabal (in-game time)
I think that covers most of the graphical side of cabal, time for the gameplay.
The gameplay is VERY addicting, i spent 17 hours one day playing it. The quests keep you busy and keeps you entertained with the great story line. Every time you level, you get new quests, but be careful, as if you fail to complete any quests, you wont be able to see/do some quests, such as, the level 41 quest wont be playable till you complete the level 40 quest for it. The reason behind this is, the story is connected through out the game.
Quests can get you to half or more of a level, so you dont have to kill tons of monsters to level, which is a great plus as most mmorpgs, you do a single quest then spend the next 2-3 days getting a single level. The quests also gives money or items as part of the reward upon completion.
The "grinding" (killing monsters to gain exp to level) is not boring at all, who finds luring 10+ monsters around you and doing a spectacular move to all of them? this can be great fun, seeing if you can kill that one monster who killed you when you was a lower level, and seeing what it drops etc.
Its also great to party to gain exp, 1 person with high defence can go around luring as much as he can and bring them back to the party to AoE (Area Of Effect) them.
There is a really good skill system where, the more of a skill (sword or magic) you use, the more exp goes towards the SKILL level, the higher the skill level, the better skills and stronger ones become buyable and usable.
There is also a combo system where you can keep attacking monsters without waiting for the selected skill to "cool down", you hit the combo key and select a monster, then a guage appears, and you have to select a skill and hit it when the gauge is in between the 2 lines in the bar for it to hit, keep repeating till you lose the combo by missing or doing a skill too soon.
I think that covers the normal gameplay of gaining exp and the combo system, lets not forget the sounds.
The sounds has been really thought of alot, because the sounds match the monsters and the area that your standing in, if your in the desert, you can hear the whisp of the wind blowing, if in the jungle, you can heart the birds and native people talking/chanting. The sounds match the monsters too when you hit or kill them, or even when they move and you run past them, 10/10 for the sounds.
There is a crafting system in CABAL, you can craft your own armor or weapon, or even rings to enchance your stats, such as, making armour so it increases how much skill exp you recieve, thus, getting your skill level up quicker.
This can be very frustration to some, but very profitable to others, as this is something that you have to invest money in.
There is also time limit dungeons, your teleported to a dungeon which you have to fight alot of monsters in a room to unlock the door to proceed to the next room, all while your counting down from the time limit, there is also maze like rooms which can be very frustrating but fun at the same time. Some quests, you will have to kill a boss at the end of the dungeon which can take a few tries to get used to as the boss ALWAYS hits half of your hp, move fast or you could be sent back out of the dungeon with a nasty -exp penalty.
When you do die, you wont lose any items, instead, you recieve a penalty where, you lose some HP and MP, which can be recovered from getting exp from monsters etc.
The interface is great, easy to use, the MP pots are automatically used so when your low, you dont have to worry about that (unless you ran out of pots!)
You can increase your class rank by doing a quest which will reward you in honor points (to buy multiple things at a higher level)
Aura mode - Depending on what answer you choose when the question is asked, this battle mode will increase your hp, attack power etc for a limited time
Battlemode 1 - Giving a great animation, its like aura mode but this mode concentrates on crit hits
Battlemode 2 (with astral weapon) - This, when pressed will give the same as battlemode 1 except you get an astral weapon, ive only been a blader so i can only comment on that class, you get claws which do awesome amount of damage at a really quick pace, and you can do its "special attack" which, does a heavy amount of damage
There are 6 classes to choose from,
Blader - Fastest attacker in the game
Mage - Does magic spells
Warrior - strongest attack
Force shielder - Most defence
Force blader - Infuses magic with swords
Force Archer - Uses bow and arrows
So there is plenty of classes to choose from and your account has enough slots to test them ALL out, which is handy.
There is many types of items in the game including cores which increase stats of a weapon or piece of armour
Weapons - Alot of different types of weapons which helps your class in what it does best
Armour - Vary graphical and it just plain looks good ;) this also includes rare drops such as capes
Accessories - Rings, amulets etc can all increase your stats.
